Nestled along the banks of the winding Grand River, Caledonia is rich in stories of the past.
We invite your group to explore the historic roots of Caledonia in Haldimand County. Pre-registration is required, $45 per person, please call Ruthven Park at 905.772.0560 to reserve a ticket.
This is a multi-stop event which you are responsible for your own transportation.
10:30 am– Caledonia Grand Truck Station
11:00 am – Coach Pyramid
11:30 am – Farm to Table Luncheon at St Paul’s Church Parish Hall
1:00 pm – Tour of Ruthven Park National Historic Site Thompson Mansion, as well as tea and treats in the Coach House following your tour.
All aboard— a stop at the Caledonia Grand Trunk Train Station will bring the area’s history to life with its connection to the Grand River Navigation Company and the formation of the Grand Trunk Railway. Learn about the establishment of Caledonia by Ranald McKinnon, which occurred in 1844 just prior to confederation. Your day in the country will also satisfy your love of shopping with a stop at Coach Pyramid, a lady’s fashion and gift store. Members of your group will enjoy a 10% discount on all purchases during your visit. No day is complete without food, a stop at St Paul’s Church Parish Hall for a farm to table lunch will be just what you need. Then you will be off to Ruthven Park, a National Historic Site for a tour of the 1840s Greek Revival Mansion. Refreshments will be served in the historic stone Coach House during your visit.
